B&G Glass has announced that it will relocate from its current Reading location to a larger facility in Bern Township, enabling it to continue expanding in order to serve its customers.
“We have experienced continuous growth of the business, and we required a location with more capacity in order to keep serving our customer and operation needs,” explained Don Moll, president. “This new location will allow us to continue to expand our business and staff in order to serve the needs of Berks County and eastern Pennsylvania.”
The new location at 2668 Leisczs Bridge Road is a 30,000 square-foot building, formerly owned by the Landis Mechanical Group, Inc.
B&G Glass’ move is made possible in part by a $1 million economic development loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA). Another Berks County business, The Empire Group, also received a PIDA loan, which it will use toward the purchase and renovation of the current B&G Glass building, which borders Empire’s property at 1420 Clarion St. The 13,000-square-foot building, located at 1440 Carbon St., will serve as Empire’s new corporate headquarters.
The increased floor space will enable B&G Glass to increase production capacity while retaining and growing its full-time staff of 38 employees, said Moll. B&G Glass’ total project cost is estimated at $2 million.
B&G Glass was founded in 1963 and is currently celebrating 55 years in business. It had been in its Carbon Street location for more than 30 years, Moll noted. The company manufactures and installs glass and glass systems in commercial, residential and specialty applications.
B&G Glass also repairs and installs automotive glass for any type of vehicle, repairs damaged screens and glass, and provides security and heat resistant products. B&G Glass is known and highly regarded for products such as its frameless shower enclosures, glass walls and shelving, etched mirrors, custom-made glass tables and replacement windows.
“Our customers have come to depend on us for quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service,” Moll said. “Those definitely have been factors in the growth we’ve experienced.”
B&G Glass also has a showroom that’s open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.
