Tolerances
Cutting glass is a completely different process than cutting wood or other materials. Due to the fundamental nature of glass, the industry allows relatively generous tolerances. A piece of glass may be cut (larger or smaller) within the Standard Industry Tolerance Chart below. At B&G, the implementation of our computerized cutting system enables us to meet or exceed recommended industry standards.

Glass Defects
All glass may contain flaws or blemishes which can be visible to the naked eye. Even the highest quality raw materials contain minor flaws. The federal government mandates that not defects should not be visible in the glass when it is viewed horizontally or vertically from 11 feet away, under normal lighting.
Consumer Guidelines for Handling Glass:
Glass is a useful & beautiful product. However, glass can be
easily damaged if not handled properly. We have carefully
inspected & packaged your merchandise prior to shipping.
Please read the following before un-packaging & handling any
purchases from B&G:
- Be sure to have enough people to safely handle your package.
The weight of the glass may be significantly heavier than you
expect.
- Use extreme care when using hammers or crowbars to remove from
crate or other shipping container.
- Remove all staples or nails before unpacking glass. Failure to
do so may result in damage to your glass. Never slide glass over
staples or nails.
- Never place your glass on concrete, metal, or tile floors
without padding. This could chip or scratch your glass.
- Wear gloves, especially if handling larger, heavier pieces of
glass.
