PYRAN® Platinum fire-rated glass-ceramic

PYRAN® Platinum is a new heat resistant safety product developed by Schott Glass & UL approved in 2009.

PYRAN^® Platinum fire-rated glass is a glass-ceramic produced by an innovative patented process, and offers stunning optical quality with superior clarity and virtually no distortion. It was designed especially for the North American market for use in fire-rated doors and windows. The new PYRAN^® Platinum line has been tested by UL and has only recently become available to distributors.

Traditional wired glass is no longer permitted for use in fire doors, sidelights and other openings in hazardous locations because it does not meet the human impact safety requirements of CPSC 16 CFR 1201, pursuant to Section 2406.1.

PYRAN products instead of old wire glass also means "No more wires. No more unwanted tints. No more distortions."

For applications requiring an impact-rated material SCHOTT offers PYRAN^® Platinum F and PYRAN^® Platinum L products. Both products are fire-protection & impact-safety rated & intended for use in safety-rated locations such as door lites, transoms or side lites, and windows with fire-rating requirements up to 90 minutes (up to 180 minutes in doors). PYRAN^® Platinum F is a specially floated glass-ceramic with surface applied 3M Scotchshield* Ultra Film, and PYRAN^® Platinum L is a laminated specially floated glass-ceramic.
